Volunteers are needed for a St. Catherine's "gardening party" Saturday, May 16, 9:30 a.m. to noon. We will be weeding and mulching the garden beds around the church and rectory, and trimming some bushes, to help keep our grounds beautiful. Mulch will be provided. Please bring your labor and gardening tools (wheelbarrows, mulch forks/shovels, trowels, shears/trimmers) On behalf of the Building and Grounds Committee. Catholic Charities USA's People of Hope traveling museum is coming to Horseheads and Rochester this coming week. May 4th from 12:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. it will be at St. Mary Our Mother Church, 816 West Broad Street, Horseheads. May 7th from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. it will be at St. Marianne Cope Parish at Guardian Angels Church, 2061 East Henrietta Road, Rochester. This free, interactive exhibit shares faith-filled stories of service and hope and highlights the local work of Catholic Charities in the Diocese of Rochester.
Catholic Charities annual SOAP FOR HOPE personal care products collection drive is going on from now until June 7th. St. Catherine's is one of the key collection sites and has a bin in the Parish Center to collect donations. Donations needed are: bar soap, laundry detergent, dish soap, toilet paper, deodorant (men's and women's), feminine hygiene products, toothpaste and toothbrushes, facial tissue, moisturizing lotion, shampoo, diapers, hand sanitizer, cleaning supplies and shaving supplies. What: Drop in for your hands-on trial of mowers, string trimmers, and blowers. Experts will be on hand to answer your questions about the equipment. We will raffle off the equipment at the end of the event. Everyone who tries the equipment can enter the drawing.
